Community Climate Action Fund Strand 1

Cork City Council invites community organizations based within the City Council boundary to apply to the Community Climate Action Fund (the fund) for Building Low Carbon Communities.

The fund is designed to support and encourage community groups to implement projects that reduce carbon emissions and help to build sustainable communities, and contribute to the achievement of national climate and energy targets.

Funding, provided by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC), can address one or more of the following themes:

  1. Home and energy.
  2. Travel.
  3. Food and waste.
  4. Shopping and recycling.
  5. Local climate and environmental action.

We strongly encourage you to propose projects that create benefits in several of the themes.

Small grants of up to €20,000, medium grants of between€20-50,000, and large grants of between €50-100,000, are available. Your project can be funded for up to three years. The fund can cover up to 100% of eligible costs. One project application from each organisation is allowed.

Please note we are using the LEO submit system for this application. You may need to register to use it even if you have used www.submit.com to apply for Cork City Council grants in the past.

Eligibility

To be able to win funding your organization must:

  • Be a not-for-profit organization.
  • Be located within the boundary of Cork City Council.
  • Submit a completed application on or before the closing date of this competition
  • Be registered with the Cork City Public Participation Network (PPN), or be connected with other collectives such as the Wheel, Tidy Towns, or be a community group with Articles of Association or constitution, which hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for which approved minutes are available.
  • For an application to be successful it must address one or more of the themes described above

The following would not be eligible for funding:
  • Private individuals
  • Commercial undertakings (including sole traders).
  • National community or environmental organizations.
